Quietly Knowing

Quietly knowing
That the leaves on the trees
Could turn just as green
Or as brown as they please

Today may bring sunshine
Tomorrow, soft rain
Sometimes we sip water
And sometimes champagne

Sometimes in sadness
We cry, curse or fret
Sometimes in gladness
We praise our planet

Like warmness of summer
That is heaven sent
We quietly know
How to remain content

Quietly knowing
That come what may
Time and tide passes
For tomorrow's a new day

Quietly knowing
With crisp clarity
Answers will arrive
For you and for me
